Starship is on the pad in Boca-Chica, Texas. Ready for its maiden flight to almost complete 1 orbit and make a water landing in the waters around Hawaii. Watch it live here. Whatever really happens after the launch, this will be a date to remember as this rocket truly is humanity's only hope to ever set foot on planet Mars in the future. Being fully reusable will show SLS where the exit is quite soon is my expectation.
Following this momentous moment in history, what I do hope for the near future is a few things:

to drop the silly idea that this system should be used for point-to-point travel on Earth. Although the US military dropped $102M to do some kind of demonstration with Starship, this should be considered as geopolitical posturing by the US. By just contemplating outlandish military capabilities like sending troups or military cargo by Starship, should have the US adversaries wonder what other capabilities the US has up their sleeves. This system is totally incompetent and inefficient to make short trips. Just stick with your Boeing C-17 Globemaster for global access.

that Elon Musk comes to his senses, stops running/ruining Twitter and stops doing opinions on things he lacks knowledge of. It does not shine a good light on SpaceX and its efforts to make life multi-planetary. We still need a positive public opinion on spaceflight in general to get boots to Mars and Elon Musk is very contra-productive in this respect at the moment, despite the fact that we owe gratitude to him for starting out with SpaceX in the first place and shaking up the space industry.

that this will create more priority for continued souvereign European access to Space. Hurry up with Ariane 6, 7 and 8 and all the other European launchers on paper please! We are loosing the space race and Europe really doesn't need to loose.
